Today's election was one of the tightest contest in Australian History The outcome?Everyone lost (except The Greens) , and no one won.
Gillard was left reeling off stage and Abbott was left disappointed on not gaining enough on the collapse of Labor's Government. Controversies and Questions will be asked for the weeks to come. This is also going to be a long road for both party to form a (barely) functional cabinet. They will have to discuss heavily about who's going to fill in the spots.
Outside of the dark political realm which I have next to no interest in, the effect of this election on Telecommunication policies needs to be more clearly defined. Hence I am going to explain some of it and ask some questions for more clarification.
Stephen Conroy's Internet filtering plan is as good as dead. The libs should be able to rally the Green's & Independent's support to block the legislation to go further. That means that the utterly infamous plan of a red Australia would be put to rest for at least 3 years. For the end user? 1984 is over. It means you can still enjoy visiting any websites you want without being tracked or logged by the government.
With this blocked in mind. There's more reason to rejoice than not. It's a great victory by progressivism. The rise of progressivism is finally seen in Australia.Realising the theory that progressivism is another form of modifing a theory becoming independent of the state, this failure can be easily seen as stepping stone for the introduction of Progressivism into Australia (not by boat people but by everyone)
